I honestly can't believe I'm writing a blog post. Ten-plus years ago, before my first book was accepted for publication, I used to blog regularly. It was what you did back then in hopes of building relationships with readers and networking with publishers, editors and other authors. As time went by, Facebook took over as my social media drug of choice and, because I had a number of books available, I was content to abandon my blog and simply make sure my website was up to date. Realistically, I didn't enjoy blogging that much, which is kind of weird, if you think about it. A writer who had a hard time finding things to write about? Absurd!
But times change, and sometimes we find ourselves starting all over again when we least expect it. Over the last four years I've seen my old publishers fold, gone through huge personal changes, and felt as though if where I was wasn't rock bottom, it was certainly the sludgy bits just above it. Then, one day I decided I wasn't wallowing anymore. I made some serious, life-altering changes, and haven't looked back since. In a strange way, it's both a forward movement and a return to parts of my past I've always held dear.
I plan to talk about my works in progress, share some info about the things I love (Dogs! Crafts! Places! Bacon! Tea!), and give some insights into the things/people/places that inspire my writing. I hope you'll come back often, or sign up for email notifications. Don't worry, I won't be spamming you! After all, you can start all over, but teaching an old dog new tricks is a whole different thing!
